This is BRAND NEW, 3-wire, 18 gauge (known as 18/3) stranded copper electrical cord. The 3 wires allow you to use a ground wire, although many lighting situations won't require one, in which case just clip the green wire and leave it unused.

    once I figured out the best way to cut the braided sheath (tape it and use a fine tooth hacksaw blade pulling by feel till I got through the wire) (very carefully). and then drilling out fittings to 19/64 made working with it easy. looks great, reall

    Reply From SHV: Thanks Cliff, here's a tip: the metal braided cords can be cut through the same way you would cut through our cloth covered cords: tape if off with masking tape (to prevent frays), then cut right through it with the cutter blade on the wire stripper. To strip, you can use a basic razor blade or peel back and cut with scissors. The metal strands are extremely fine and fairly easy to cut through, not much harder than the cloth braiding.
