Strain Relief Piece, Threaded Cord Grip - Great For Cloth Covered Wire! 1/8 IPS Male Threads

These handy little threaded plastic cord grips are a great safety feature to add to your hanging pendants and other weight-bearing light fixtures. They thread into the base of any standard light socket (or use a nut to fasten them to anything, like a ceiling canopy mount) and when you screw on the cap, they tighten up onto your cord: holding the weight off of your wire connections inside your socket or ceiling canopy. No more struggling to tie knots or use cumbersome crimps inside your socket!

  • 1/8 IPS Male Threads (fits all of our sockets, or use a nut to fasten these to any canopy or fixture you want to hang cords from!)
  • All of our cords are compatible with these!!! (except the 16 gauge overbraid cord which is too thick!)
  • Installation note: thread the base onto the socket or fixture, spread the "grabbers" so they don't snag your cord while you push it through, slide the cap onto the cord, then insert the cord. Once you're done with your wiring on the inside, simply tightn down the cap and the grabbers will dig into your cord, holding the weight off of your wire connections.

    Do not fit

Posted by Unknown on May 24th 2024

They do not fit the 3 wire threaded cord. Could not find the appropriate ones. I would suggest that when purchasing the cord and sockets a link to the appropriate one opened up to make the purchase smoother.

Reply From SHV: Sorry to hear you had trouble, these are difficult to get onto the 3-wire round cords but not impossible, we do recommend the set-screw style strain reliefs for the round cords, they are in the same section titled Strain Reliefs, the cone-shaped compression ones are best with 2-wire cords (twisted and parallel style), and the set-screw style reliefs are best for round cords. We also have a video linked in the listing demonstrating each strain relief on the different types of cord to better help make the right choice for your needs.

    Order #20261 and Order #33712

Posted by Mark Johnston on Dec 20th 2023

Placed order 20261 and had forgot to order the strain relievers. Called on that Saturday before 2PM left a message to please cancel the order so I could reorder with the additional parts. Order was not cancelled. So I placed order 33712 and paid the shipping. Not a big deal just short on customer service.

Reply from SHV: Hi Mark, sorry about any miscommunications, I don not remember this situation (order #20261 was from almost 3 years ago), we may have just not gotten your message in time before we shipped it, I would have been happy to comp you the shipping on the second order though if I had known.

Would be great if it actually fit the wire...

Posted by Jess on Apr 9th 2014

Despite the description stating its compatibility with all 18 gauge cords, this strain relief does not fit the 18/3 cloth covered round wire that I ordered to use it with.

Reply: Hi Jess, sorry to hear about the issue, I have just done a spot check on the strain reliefs and they all seem to fit well with our 3-wire cords, maybe it was a bad piece? What color strain relief did you buy? We can refund the price or send you a new one, no problem, just let us know, we're here to help!! -Paul, Snake Head Vintage
