Vintage Style Acorn & Oak Leaf Electrical Plug - Bakelite Reproduction for Antique Lamps, Fans, etc, cord rewiring

Black, Brown or White - Great with Cloth Wire

These historically accurate replicated vintage Bakelite electrical plugs add the perfect finishing touch to your lamp rewire, lighting creation, fan, radio or other small appliance refurbish project. They work great with our rayon and cotton fabric covered cord, and can be added to any order with no additional shipping!!!

NOTE: The color of the plug insulator is now red, not black

True to the classic design, they are an antique style hard plastic bakelite type shell with a removable insulator that fits snugly over the prongs. These replicated vintage Bakelite electrical plugs are extremely easy to work with: simply connect your wires to the screw terminals inside, then slide on the insulator until it snaps into place. Done!

Also, these are a great option if you are looking for a 2-prong polarized plug, vs our other vintage style plugs which are unpolarized. These old style electrical acorn plugs have one blade larger than the other, and fit into an outlet only one way, so you have a dedicated hot/neutral designation (the larger silver blade is "neutral", the thinner brass blade is "hot")

This listing is for the plugs only (a quantity of 1 = 1 plug with insulator!!! Wire shown as an example, can be purchased separately!!!)

  • Standard 2-prong Polarized AC plug
  • Works with all of our cloth covered electrical wire (however, there is no ground terminal if you are using a 3-wire cord)
  • These are considered a true vintage replica and are not UL Listed

    Perfect for my project

These plugs are easy to wire and feel really solid. They look like they're really the old Bakelite material, and the acorns and oak leaves are a great touch. I really like that the plugs have a wide neutral prong - it's better and safer to wire your projects properly. Good value!

Best Price for Best Repro. Plug

Posted by George & Liz Reign on Feb 4th 2021

I can't believe there can be such a wide price spread on the exact same vintage repro plug but thanks to Snake Head Vintage it's true. Other plugs just like it were, on average $6 more. Will be buying all my vintage repro. parts here from now on.

    Good Quality

Posted by Unknown on Jul 12th 2020

While these aren't strictly identical to the original (they have one wide prong), they are close enough for my purposes. I collect and restore old radios, and for ones from the 1930's, these plugs look authentic. I have tried some other reproductions, but on those the screws were bent from the staking operation (so that the screws won't come out all the way). Every batch I have gotten from Snake Head so far has screws that are not bent that way, so I will continue to get my reproduction plugs here.

Response: We appreciate this thorough review, and are very glad that you like the plugs! Yes, the only change from the true vintage plugs is the fact that these are polarized (that's why the one wide prong). It's the one slight modernization :)

    Good Quality Reproduction

The brown acorn plug reproduction is well made and looks like the original except for the polarized blades. I used it on a 1930’s era Sessions clock along with gold fabric covered line cord. Very pleased with the result.
