Solid Brass Dimmable Light Socket, Full Range Turn Knob Dimmer
- SKU:
- socket-brass-dimmer
This listing is for 1 socket, choose between 4 different finishes:
Antique Bronze, Polished Brass, Polished Nickel, Black
Beautiful, unique and sturdy, these vintage style light bulb sockets are absolutely the best quality around, they're cast brass and have a screw on base instead of the plated brass and snap-on base like cheap run-of-the-mill sockets. And what makes these even more special? Their ability to dim and brighten a light bulb controlled right from the sockets knob! Turn the knob, the bulb clicks on, than as you turn the knob further the bulb will brighten, you can choose your desired light level. Works great with Edison bulbs, or any incandescent light bulb. Easy to work with: simply screw off the base to access the 2 wire connections inside. Perfect for restoring old lamps and lights or for all of your homemade lighting fixtures.

Dimmer control knob falls off
As I unpacked my 2 dimmers, I noticed that one of the control knobs had fallen off inside the plastic bag. It is a pressure fit made of a hard plastic. It seemed to go back on OK, but didn't match the hefty, solid quality of the rest of the dimmer. Both control knobs fell off during installation and during use. We put tape around the internal teeth and created a tighter fit, but are unsure of how long this will last. We don't want to use glue. Is there a better design choice or material that can be used on the knobs? The actual dimmer functions and looks great.
RESPONSE FROM SHV: Hello, sorry to hear this happened, it sounds like the knob stems may have been damaged in shipment, usually they fit very nice and tight, actually if anything sometimes we get customers who ask us how to remove the knobs, they want to make sure they are pull-off because they are on there so tight! So, I think it's not so much a bad design but just damage to the stem, and we can certainly replace the internal workings of the socket for you. The pressure fitting is how the dimmer knobs have to be, they can't screw on and off like regular sockets, because regular sockets only have to turn one way, dimmer sockets have to be able to turn both ways without loosening. But again, the pressure fittings usually work great, we sell hundreds of these sockets and don't ever hear of problems with the knobs being loose, so I do think it was an issue that they got damaged and are now loose because of it, we can replace with new ones. Thank you, -SHV -
